These pages are my attempt to vent on issues important to me (and when it does not really seem to matter whether anyone reads yet another blog or not) such as education, community, politics and culture. With respect to culture I am especially interested and concerned about the impact our rapid cultural changes are having on our children and especially on boys. As a teacher, a parent, a local elected official, and a member of our Fire Department I get to experience multiple small rural town perspectives on big issues.
I live on the side of one of the largest of Vermont’s Green Mountains in a wonderful small town that is on the edge of becoming too precious. Vermont is a refuge both in its physical beauty and the “small is good” nature of its communities and politics.
